At Cilantro’s, our success is fueled by passion, dedication, and a shared dream of bringing authentic Indian flavors to Winnipeg. Behind the scenes, our founders, Ritesh Patel and Kapil Gusain, bring their extensive expertise to ensure that every guest enjoys an exceptional dining experience.
Both Ritesh and Kapil came to Canada as students, driven by a shared vision of opening their own restaurant. With backgrounds in hospitality, culinary arts, and restaurant management, they worked tirelessly, gaining hands-on experience in some of the world’s most renowned hospitality brands. Their journey—from students to successful restaurateurs—is a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and passion for food.
ABOUT US
Kapil Gusain ensures that every aspect of our restaurant runs smoothly, from operations to guest satisfaction.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Culinary and Management and later pursued Post-Graduation in Hotel, Resort, and Restaurant Management in Ontario. His journey in hospitality began at the Sheraton Group of Hotels, where he worked as a Food & Beverage Associate, gaining hands-on experience in delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Kapil later transitioned into the fast-food industry, working at McDonald’s as a Restaurant Manager. His experience in fast-paced, high-volume restaurant operations sparked his vision to create a fast-casual Indian dining concept, making authentic flavors more accessible to the modern diner.
Ritesh Patel is the heart of our kitchen and the driving force behind our commitment to quality.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Culinary Arts from one of Mumbai’s top colleges, Ritesh honed his skills at Taj Group of Hotels and renowned restaurants across India. He further expanded his expertise by completing a Post-Graduation in Hotel, Resort, and Restaurant Management in Ontario.
Ritesh gained valuable experience working at Olive Garden, Canada, for five years as a Culinary Manager, before embarking on his own journey as a restaurateur and Executive Chef. His deep passion for food, creativity, and innovation continuously inspire him to elevate Indian cuisine and bring exciting flavors to Winnipeg.
